Play OGG Files
|
Wondering how and why you should play OGG files? Read the following and find out what the benefits are and where you can find the software needed. OGG files are used most of the time to store sound (music, mainly) and they have the specific feature of being patent free, thus creating a very new type of media streaming, allowing users to view or listen to the content without any kind of legal issues. The project that resulted in the creation of the first OGG file began in 1993 and was performed to develop a simple way of compressing audio in order for it to be used by a computer. The creator of the file wanted to create a simple and as flexible as possible method of compressing audio so that it allows the user to listen to the track without being a programmer. In fact, OGG files were developed prior to MP3, but because they are not subject to copyright laws, they weren't very sot after in the music world. They also provide with better quality compared to MP3 but they also require more space as another downside. OGG files are used to store recordings from portable recorders because of the same reason, they provide with higher sound quality and can also be altered and edited in a much easier way. Anyone can play OGG files after they recorded them with any multimedia player, and as easy as playing any other media files. If you want to play OGG files but also save disk space you can use compressors or special codecs for the files. You will lose 5 to 10 percent of the quality but you will also save about 20 percent in disk space. Still, the quality of the sound is higher than most other types of audio files, while being as large as those, space wise. The OGG files are free, meaning that you will never, ever, have to pay for them, regardless of the content or producer. When you want to download an OGG file, you just have to click on it, and you can play OGG files all day long without any worries of braking the law. Unfortunately, this type of files is very rare and you probably will never find one such file if you are an average user. In any case, you should try and play OGG files at least once, especially if you are one of those people that really enjoy listening to music at the highest quality. |
